Asus Google Nexus 7 tablet - Android 4.1 " Jelly Bean "

Google in collaboration with Asus finally released their very own tablet Nexus 7 mid July 2012 running on the latest Jelly Bean 4.1 Android OS. The Nexus 7 Android tablet is expected to reach Indian markets by September, but its available on ebay for around Rs. 16,000 (8 GB version) & Rs. 20000 (16 GB version). But the US pricing of the Nexus 7 is 199$ & 250$ for the 8 GB & 16 GB version respectively,  so you have to pay Rs. 5000-6000 more or less to get the Nexus 7 before it officially releases in India. Using a Nvidia Tegra 3 chipset , the Nexus 7 Android tablet is capable of easily supporting the latest games made and even the future games well. HD videos will play flawlessly on this android tablet.

Advice: People buying the Asus Google Nexus 7 tablet online in India or other countries where it is not officially launched have to face the fact that Asus will not be giving any support to them until the official release in one's country.

Nexus 7 Specifications:

Networks:

-GSM/ CDMA networks not supported no call, sms or mms support.

-Wireless LAN (Wi-Fi) 802.11 b/g/n.

-Bluetooth is present.

-NFC is present.

System:

-Android OS 4.1, Jelly Bean.

-Nvidia Tegra 3 T30L chipset.

-Quad core 1.2 GHz Cortex A9 processor (1.3GHz in single core mode).

-ULP Geforce 416 MHz GPU.

Advice: The Nexus 7 tablet will be able to run almost all of the HD games, it uses a 416 MHz ULP Geforce GPU. The GPU is only a little underpowered when compared to the expensive Android devices Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime, IdeaTab K2 / LePad K2, Acer Iconia Tab A510, Acer Iconia Tab A700, LG Optimus 4X HD, HTC One X, ZTE Era, ZTE PF 100, ZTE T98, Toshiba AT270, Toshiba AT300 (Excite 10), Asus Tablet 610, Fuhu Inc. nabi 2 Tablet, Tesla Model S which are powered with    Quad core 1.4 GHz Cortex A9 processor (1.5GHz in single core mode) with 520 MHz ULP Geforce GPU  and ASUS Transformer Pad Infinity 700 (TF700T) which uses the same 520 MHz GPU and a 1.6 Quad core Cortex A9 processor (1.7GHz in single core mode). But most of those cost more than the Nexus 7 and plus you get Jelly Bean 4.1 out of the box for the Nexus 7, thus making it the best for its price.

Display:

- LCD capacitive touchscreen with LED backlit and IPS technology, 16M colours.

- 7 inch screen with Gorilla Glass.

- 800 X 1280 resolution with 216 ppi pixel density.

- Multi-touch is supported.

Memory:

- 1 GB DDR3 RAM @ 667MHz.

- No memory card slot.

- 8 GB or 16GB internal memory depending which version you buy.

- USB OTG is for only some device types, presently USB storage is not supported (You may have to " root " your Nexus 7 tablet and use " Stickmount " application as experimented by some people ) .

Advice: Only go for the Nexus 7 android tablet right now if your fine with the internal memory, because updates to the USB OTG are nowhere in the news right now. Off course if your comfortable with storing files using the Cloud, you can go ahead. Memory is @ 667 MHz again is a bit less as compared to high frequency of the Asus Eee Pad and others but with Jelly Bean 4.1 as the new OS, everything will be butter smooth.

Camera:

-Front facing 1.2 megapixel camera as the primary camera for video chatting.

-No camera for clicking pics.

Expansions:

-MicroUSB 2.0 port.

-No HDMI out.

Sound:

-Loudspeaker is present.

-3.5mm jack is present.

Battery:

-The battery used here is a Standard Li-Ion 4325 mAh.

Should you go for it?

- If the Nexus 7 android tablet not officially launched in your country, you should wait a little more because you'll end up paying extra dollars if you buy it online.

- In India you have to pay Rs. 5000 - 6000 more for the 8 GB version, so a total of around Rs. 16000 and around Rs. 20000 for the 16 GB version of the Nexus 7 Android tablet. The actual price of the tablet in US dollars is 199$ & 250$ respectively for the 8 GB & 16 GB versions.

- Jelly Bean 4.1 is the latest Android OS and its the best among the rest, so its a complete worth.                   Watch the review of Jelly Bean 4.1 here.

- Jelly Bean 4.1 uses the hardware perfectly, so it should perform better than the expensive devices having high end hardware but running on Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0.

- The Nexus 7 is a total worth for its price, even though certain features like hdmi out and micro SD card are not supported, you will be able to run almost any application and game given the hardware.

- Its Google's very own Android tablet, so it will receive updates easily without any fuss. Google has always given first priority to its Android devices like Jelly Bean 4.1 is latest and its out first on Samsung Galaxy Nexus & even Samsung Google Nexus S is confirmed to get Jelly Bean Android 4.1 even though the phone is almost 2 years old. Hence Google has proved that it will keep its devices up to date with latest software.

I will update the prices of the Nexus 7 Android tablet and availability in my future posts so keep visiting  :-) !

The Samsung Galaxy Nexus S released December 2010, was the first phone to have the Gingerbread 2.3 Android Operating System and now its given the royalty of having the latest OS, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. News is that SRF in France and Vodafone in Australia have already started rolling out updates to the Nexus S phone from July 18th onwards. Vodafone Australia however temporarily delayed the update saying that the software does not meet the Australian regulatory requirements to make emergency calls. There is no special release date for India and the rest of the countries like the above two but its expected at the last few days of July 2012 or some days later. If anyone has updated their phone from any country please feel free to comment and tell us about your experience. Jelly Bean Android 4.1 Review on Galaxy Nexus !

credits to pocketnow

Yes ! Jelly Bean Android 4.1 is superior compared to the previous Ice cream sandwich 4.0 the video clearly shows us that.

-Project Butter is a complete success, the touch interface is improved to be the best.

-Touch comparison made to the Galaxy S III(running ice cream sandwich) showed that Nexus (running Jelly bean) was faster even though S III is quad core & Nexus is Dual core. Thus Jelly bean is superior !

-Notifications management has improved a lot.

-The Voice search assistant is much faster compared to Apple's Siri on Iphone 4 .

-Camera interface is new and improved.

-Web browsing is as smooth as butter thanks to Project butter.

-Automatically re-sizable App widgets is also very much helpful when your arranging apps.

-In a Nut-shell Jelly Bean Android 4.1 clearly beats the former Ice cream sandwich 4.0 ! so ITS A MAJOR UPGRADE !

-You can get it on your Samsung Google Nexus from here :

Samsung Galaxy S III : Wireless Charging Kit Coming Soon!

"People who are all set to buy the S III have another reason as to why they should go ahead and buy it."

Wireless Charging Kit for Samsung Galaxy S III !!

credits : slashgear.com

-This is really going to give Galaxy S III users the loyalty of charging their phone wirelessly. No more tangles !

-The wireless charging kit will look somewhat like the kit displayed in the image. The phone kit is said to feature a new battery cover and a desktop cradle.

-The charging kit is said to release anytime near this September 2012.

-This new enhancement will take the world of mobile phones a step further.

-Another phone capable with this feature is Nokia Lumia 800. Using a Touchstone Wireless Charging Dock , wireless charging can be done on the Lumia 800.

-But the Lumia 800 needs to be modified by opening up the body and removing some metal from the phones case, which is a complex procedure.

-We therefore wait for Samsung to get the job done by using better technology !!

Affordable phones with " Good Display (HVGA 480 x 320) ". Part 1: Micromax - A45

Micromax - Superfone Punk A45  (dual SIM) .

The entry level Android handset with satisfying features for the price.

Micromax - A45 (dual SIM) was Released June 2012,

Rs. 4990 (flipkart.com).

 LARGE DISPLAY:

-The first thing you'll notice about this phone is its large 3.5 inch capacitive touchscreen display which is one of the best in this price range.
-It supports a HVGA resolution of 480 x 320 with 165ppi density.
-Thus it makes the screen a replica of Samsung Galaxy Ace which has the exact same features.
-However it does not have Gorilla Glass like the Ace, so handle it with care.
-Multitouch is supported.

Advice: The 480 x 320 resolution is taken into consideration while installing most of the applications & games. There is no use of having a fast processor of 800MHz or 1GHz if your screen is not able to display the app or game. The 650MHz processor is sufficient enough.
When compared to Micromax Aisha A52, Ninja A50, & Galaxy Y,  the Superfone A45 has a bigger, better and high resolution display than all of them,  thus A45 will provide better viewing quality. The thing missing is the voice recognition system provided by Aisha and the 800 MHz & 1GHz processor.
Large Display is the same as the Micromax Superfone Ninja2 A56, which is released recently .

NETWORKS SUPPORTED:

-2G Network                 :  GSM 900 / 1800 - SIM 1 & SIM 2.
-Wireless LAN (Wi-Fi):  Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n.
-Bluetooth version       :   v2.0 with A2DP.
-EDGE is supported.

Note: GPS & 3G Network is not supported on this phone.

 FEATURES:

-650 MHz processor is fast enough to support most of the applications and games, only multitasking will be a bit slow. This processor is not at all that slow the way people exaggerate it.
-This phone runs Android Operating System v2.3 a.k.a. Gingerbread, there is no support for Ice cream sandwich.
-Dual Sim is supported.
-Java is also supported.
-Loudspeaker & 3.5mm jack is present.
-Internal Memory 180 MB, 256 MB RAM is enough to install apps and games supported for this phone.
-External Memory card slot Micro SD upto 32 GB is supported.
-microUSB v2.0 is present.
-Battery used is standard Li-Ion 1300 mAh.
-Primary camera is 2 MP (no flash), 1600x1200 pixels, video recording can be done.
-Camera features: Multi-shot, Night Vision, Camera Sensor Setting.
-No secondary camera.
-Its available in Black & White colours.

Advice:  3.5 inch screen is big, so it may use more battery when your screen is on.
Battery will last the entire day with little usage of games and apps, however if your usage is above average you may need to charge two times a day.

 WHO SHOULD BUY THIS:

-Budget android phone seekers.

-People who prefer a good display.

-People who are not interested in a 3G connection and GPS navigation.

-People who rarely use the camera that much.

My final view: This is the best phone for its price, display is very good, processor can handle most of the work easily and the operating system used is Android 2.3 Gingerbread.
Large Display is the same as the Micromax Superfone Ninja2 A56, which is released recently.
